November 9th, 1888 is the day that Jack The Ripper killed his last known victim, Mary Jane Kelly. November 9th, 1914 is the day that the SMS Eden was sunk by the HMS Sydney in the Battle of Cocos. Let's skip a few years ahead, shall we? That information was boring. November 9th, 1989 is the day and year that little Holly Danvers was born. Sadly, her home life was far from perfect. It was broken, disastrous, and overall traumatic for the young girl as she grew in the environment until she was old enough to leave, forever. Her father was an alcoholic and her mother was a workaholic, and neither had the patience required for raising a child. So as she grew, Holly was subjected to parents screaming at each other, a father who would come home drunk and beat on his wife, and eventually his daughter as well.
During her younger and elementary years, the abuse was more verbal and emotional than it was physical. Matthias would come home and yell about how his wife and daughter were both worthless, and that despite everything, they would always remain worthless; he would also go as far to say that Holly would never grow up to amount to anything. Also, despite the amount of money they had, her parents often reused to buy brand new clothes for their daughter, claiming they needed the money for other things when in all reality they were just too selfish, and they would rahter use it on themselves than use it to provide for their daughter. As a result, she was forced to wear hand me down clothing and things of that like. School was an atmosphere Holly loved, because it was quiet and vastly different from her home life. To her, she didn't care if the kids picked on her for her clothing or anything. She was just glad to be away from her home life, even if it was only for a short while. But that relief was soon to end, as she entered junior high. By then, her father's alcoholism and abuse had escalated and had now grown physical. The teasing from kids at school had also grown worse.
As she entered her ninth grade year of high school, she fell into a severe depression. The stress from her father beating on her, and the other girls teasing her, was beginning to be too much for the young girl to handle. The bruises her father left behind were painful, as were the emotional scars she was beginning to bear, all on her own. After one particular night at home, after her father struck her in the face, she packed her few belongings into a bag and walked out, tears streaming down her face. Rolling up her sleeves, she gazed at the scars on her arms, and she began to wonder if anyone would even miss her if she took her own life. Standing in the middle of the street, preoccupied by her own thoughts, she didn't notice the police car pull up beside her and the cop emerging from the vehicle. As he approached, he addressed her, and as he shone his flashlight, he noticed the swelling and bruising on her face. Alarmed, he led her to the car and called it in, after getting the story of what happened to the young girl.
A few months after that, she was finally placed in a permanent home with her aunt in Manhattan, New York, and she continued to go through high school. The following years were hard as the girl fought to overcome the fear she had of people, and the emotional scarring she had held onto for so long. There were occasions where she would get overwhelmed, and new cuts would appear on her, but by the time she was a senior in high school at eighteen, the self harm had stopped and she was slowly beginning to trust people again. A year after that, though still aloof and hesitant to trust people, after much perseverance, she landed a job as the assistant manager for the band called I Make Scenes Burn, but soon gained the manager position due to her hard work, and her stubbornness, and drive to gain the position. She's been there manager ever since, and she's now twenty years old, having the time of her life.
